Over the years, Chelsey Kent-Beauchamp along with her husband Mike Kent-Beauchamp have taken in animals of different kinds who needed a home. In 2021, Chelsey received the news that a previously owned horse had been found in distress because of neglectful care. While this horse could not be saved, it inspired her to start an official registered rescue to help prevent situations like this. Lotus Rescue was started to provide a home for animals in need, who have been neglected or abandoned or need a safe place to land.
We are a smaller rescue that provides tailored individual care to each animal to ensure optimum health, safety and livelihood. Some animals need time and investment for mental or physical rehabilitation for responsible rehoming. Some animals need a forever home that can provide special needs. Some need to live out the rest of their lives in a relaxed and stable environment and some need a place to shelter under circumstances that are beyond their caretakers control.
Our Values
We value Individual Quality Care
Every animal at Lotus receives quality care tailored to their individual needs. These needs can fall under many categories including vet care, farrier work, blankets and equipment, feed, turnout and attention.
We value Compassion and Kindness
We have compassion for animals who are in need. We also have compassion for those animal owners who ask for help. Circumstances beyond control can prevent owners from providing the necessary care to their animals.
We value Responsibility and Commitment
We are advocates for responsible animal care. We intend to grow responsibly and take in animals only when we can provide the best care. We believe it is the responsibility of the public to abide by and understand the animal welfare legislation in their area. Owning animals is a commitment which is often forgotten or unknown.
